The dr. had no insight as to why Doodle keeps having bouts of vomitting. Big surprise; sometimes i really feel like i can better diagnose his and my ailments than the "professionals" do. Sigh.
So the verdict is that Doodle's been prescribed Zantac. If he doesn't improve within the next two weeks then they'll refer him to a GI specialist at Chapel Hill. i can't help but think that's where we'll end up, whether or not Doodle's condition improves, and the prospect completely scares me.
R's family has a history of severe acid reflux leading to serious health issues. My mom died of unknown cancer that metastasized to the liver and pancreas, though she had no history of smoking, drinking, drugs, etc. My paternal grandmother died of lung cancer, though she was not a smoker or second hand smoker.
i feel a sense of helplessness and dread, and there's nothing i can do to protect my little miracle boy. i wish i could take his suffering and just let him be carefree. What a sucky reminder to spend as much fun time with loved ones as you can, because life is precious!

Damn. Nothing I hate reading more than something like this. My little guy is my world and when someone else's child is ill I feel almost as if it's my own child because of the strong empathy it evokes. It's awful. I hope everything works out well and soon.
Thanks so much. :)
The great news is that - knock on wood - the Doodlebug has not been sick at all since starting zantac.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!
