Kick starting

So, the fitness challenge officially started with weigh-ins this morning. Wow, talk about topping the scale. i feel like i've got so far to go, just to get in enough shape to lose 20 lbs., that it's a monumental task for me.

i think the key to helping this be long term and not just a phase that'll have me gaining back the lost weight (and more), is to keep it enjoyable. That's why i'm hoping bike riding will be a good thing. It should allow me to have fun with Doodle (and other family members, i hope!), while being healthy at the same time.

i'm a bit nervous about changing our food intake - not in how much we eat, but in cutting out the unhealthy stuff. It's so much easier to pick up and/or make comfort foods, but those aren't too healthy. Comfort foods are so much easier for groups and kids, too, than having to worry about who likes which veggies, whole grains, etc. And since Nan's not dieting too, we'll be dieting around her Hostess Cupcakes, buttered popcorn, etc. Plus, what do we do with all the junk that's currently in the house? (Thinking about what didnt get eaten while camping, not to mention all the stuff in our freezer.)

i also hate loading up on veggies while shopping - all with the best intentions - and then throwing half of them away two weeks later. It's hard to plan and follow through with the good stuff.

Sigh.... i'm whining, i know. Hopefully this will pass. lol Hopefully if i keep in mind that losing 20 lbs. should increase my chances of getting pregnant, that will be motivation enough for me. If we dont conceive this year, then we're planning to not conceive again at all. So this is "all or nothing" time for me. Please feel free to remind me of that if you see me wanting to stray upon some yummilicious dessert or another that i dont really need! (Just be nice about it, please. lol)

i know exactly how you feel minus the getting pregnant part. Three teenagers in the house is enough for me plus a 4mth old puppy. Hopefully with everyone jumping on board we can all keep each other encouraged.

diet doesnt mean to stop eating what you like, it means to be careful what and how much you eat. so eat the stuff in the house, but spread it out, slowly.
plan on 18 weeks of changes, not overnight.
